The Expert of CRICATAS was Invited to Attend the Seminar on China-Pakistan Agricultural and Industrial Cooperation Information Platform

On June 23th, the Seminar on China-Pakistan agricultural and industrial cooperation information platform (Phase Ⅳ) was held in Studio of China Economic Net and Online Conference via ZOOM, by the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, the researcher of Coconut Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricaltural Scienses (CRICATAS), Dr. Tang Minmin participated in the seminar and introduced some achievements of date palm processing of CRICATAS.

Pakistan is a developing country in the world, agriculture is the pillar industry of Pakistan's economy, and date palm was the third largest fruit crop in Pakistan. Pakistan is also the seventh largest date palm producer in the world. However, the world's date palm processing technology is backward, the product type is single, and there was lack of high value-added products, which has seriously affected the agricultural economic income of Pakistan. At the seminar, associate researcher Tang Minmin introduced some research achievements of date palm processing, including date jasmine tea, date ganoderma lucidum oral liquid, date vinegar and the development prospect of date vinegar products, and she hopes that the research results of date processing in CRICATAS can provide suitable development ideas and direction for date processing industry in Pakistan.

This seminar mainly focuses on the field of agricultural products processing of China and Pakistan, fully tapped the resource advantages and complementary direction of China and Pakistan, and make suggestions for the development of the industry. The seminar was jointly sponsored by China Economic Net, China Machinery Engineering Corporation and China Association for international exchange of agriculture. The main guests included Mr. Nong Rong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Asim Saleem Bajwa, the Chairman of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority, leaders of relevant departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, processing enterprises and relevant experts from both sides in honey, olive, tobacco, tea and dates, and a total of about 30 people.
