Coconut Grand View Garden is located in “the coconut village of China” ---- Wenchang City, Hainan Province. It is near to the famous scenic spot of Hainan ---- Dongjiao Coconut Forest. Coconut Grand View Garden was rebuilt on the basis of the coconut germplasm resource garden of the Coconut Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The garden was first built in 1980. It covers an area of 54.4 hectares, which is an ecological scenic spot with the characteristic of rich coconut culture and integrated with scientific research, popular science education, tourism and vacation amusement.

The garden is divided into 7 functional parts, i.e. the explanation central part, the coconut forest appreciating part, the palm plant appreciating part, the horticulture appreciating part, the lakeside rest and recreation part, the product development part and the scientific research and development part. More than 200 palm plants and more than 130 plant species of Hainan characteristics have been collected in the garden. At present, it is the garden with the most palm plant species in China. The garden fully exhibits coconut culture contents such as coconut food culture, coconut product culture, coconut history culture and coconut spirit culture. In the garden, the coconut forests are verdant, the flowers are flourishing, and the birds sing, which makes people relaxed and happy. If you come to the garden, you will be amused and reluctant to go away.

Using the garden as a platform, Coconut Research Institute ,CATAS undertakes tens of scientific research projects of the national level,  Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, Hainan Province and international level, and has made many scientific achievements, and has made positive contribution to the development of Chinese coconut industry and the poverty alleviation of the farmers in the coconut areas.
