Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is one of the most widely cultivated oil crops in the world. Asia has the largest planting area, accounting for 64.1% of the world, followed by Africa, accounting for 30.3% of the world.
At present, China's peanut output per unit area and total output rank first in the world. However, the planting area of peanut in the tropics of China accounts for about 20% of the total area of China, but the yield per unit area is only about 70% of the average level of peanut in China. In view of the peanut, the research on characteristic peanut breeding, off-season peanut and high-yielding cultivation are mainly carried out, and 5 major science and technology projects and natural science fund projects were undertaken in Hainan Province. 142 peanut germplasm resources were collected and 5 excellent germplasm resources were screened. 3 fine lines were selected and more than 40 fine varieties of peanut were introduced. More than 10 high-level papers have been published.

Research Achievements
1. Germplasm resources conservation and breeding
Hainan Peanut Research Station is mainly engaged in peanut germplasm collection and preservation in tropical areas home and abroad. Breeding of peanut cultivars is aimed at high yield, characteristic and high resistance. Traditional breeding methods and molecular assistant breeding methods are used to carry out the breeding work.
2. High-yield cultivation and compound ecological cultivation techniques
Peanuts can be planted all the year round in Hainan, especially spring peanuts. The center has light and simplified cultivation technology, water and fertilizer integration technology and interplanting peanut compound ecological cultivation technology under economic forest.
3. Technology services and technology promotion
In Dongfang City, Danzhou City, Wenchang City and other cities and counties of Hainan Province, more than 300 mu of peanut experimental demonstration bases were established, and more than 5,000 mu of new peanut varieties were radiated and promoted. Hainan peanut production mechanization test site meetings were held in 2017 and 2019, which demonstrated the mechanization operation mode of peanut plough and harrow, ridging, precision fertilization, seeding, fruit picking and shelling, which will effectively reduce labor costs and increase peanut yield.
