On August 7th, 2019, the training course for arecanut planting and cultivation technology jointly organized by Coconut Institute and Wenchang Science and Technology Association was held in the government conference hall of Penglai Town, Wenchang City. 72 arecanut growers from 22 villages in Penglai Town attended the training.

The training course was given by Zhou Huanqi, an arecanut expert from the coconut institute and an associate researcher. The training covered areca nut seedling, seedling management, planting, fertilization, irrigation and basic pest control. After the theoretical course, Zhou Huanqi went into the field together with the students for on-site teaching, and guided the betel nut planting and management technology with his hands.

The training is one of the contents of Wenchang's precision poverty alleviation work. It is also the first joint training course between Coconut and Wenchang Science and Technology Association. The two sides will establish a long-term mechanism through this cooperation to help farmers solve problems encountered in agricultural production and assist Wenchang City in doing accurate poverty alleviation work.
