On March 7, 2019，Wu Qiongze, Director of Science and Education Department of Hainan Agricultural and Rural Department, visited our institute to investigate the development of betel nut industry.

Mr. Wu Qiongze and his delegation were accompanied by Vice-Director Chen Gang and the backbone of the areca research laboratory. Visited the betel nut germplasm resources nursery and seed seedling breeding demonstration base, and listened to the scientific and technological personnel on betel nut germplasm resources introduction, seed seedling breeding, high-yield cultivation and other research progress, and listened to the report on the research progress of the Agricultural Germplasm Resources Conservation Project undertaken by Areca Research Laboratory in 2018.

Director Wu Qiongze and his delegation highly appraised the cultivation of betel nut varieties and the construction of demonstration base in our institute. They analyzed and guided the current hot issues such as variety breeding, seedling breeding and high-yield cultivation techniques, as well as the identification of exotic betel nut seedlings.

Investigation of betel nut seedling breeding demonstration base
