On September 3, 2018, the world-renowned coconut oil dietotherapy expert and author of the best-selling book "Alzheimer's Disease: What If There Was a Cure " on the efficacy of coconut oil,  Mary T. Newport of the United States visited the Coconut Research Institute.

At the invitation of Hainan Meiye Food Science and Technology Co., LTD, a coconut oil processing cooperative enterprise of the CRI, Dr. Mary came to Wenchang City of Hainan Province from the United States to participate in the company's "Na Gu Xiang" virgin coconut oil brand endorsement activities, and had academic exchanges with the scientists of the Product Processing Research Department,  CRI. At the exchange meeting, Dr. Xia Qiuyu of the CRI introduced the current processing situation of Hainan coconut products.  Dr. Mary shared the research progress in Coconut Oil Dietotherapy and Low Carb Solution for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Other Diseases: Ketones as Alternative Fuel for the Brain.  She introduced in detail the process of using coconut oil to effectively treat her husband's Alzheimer's disease, and elaborated the research progress on the principle, method and curative effect of using coconut oil low-carbon ketogenic diet to relieve Parkinson's disease and diabetes.  Dr. Li Rui introduced the research progress of the product processing team in the field of edible coconut oil.  The two sides expressed the need to strengthen cooperation and jointly promote research and development of coconut oil in the treatment of chronic diseases and related products.
