On August 18, Director of Coconut Research Institute, Prof. Wang Fuyou, the project host of Integrated Demonstration of Tropical Palm Production Technology in Pakistan, led the members of the project team to make a connection by video with the Pakistani researchers to further promote the implementation of project.

Dr. Aman Malik reported the progress and the existing problems of the project. The seedlings of oil palm, coconut and undergrowth intercropping king grass are growing well, but the undergrowth intercropping stylosanthes and peanut are not adapting well. The trapping and control effect of red brown weevil is still under further observation.And the project funds for base construction was made a detailed budget .
Prof. Wang Fuyou and the project team members discussed the existing problems and the next plan with Pakistan researchers, including the growth of coconut and oil palm seedlings, the preparation of base, the adaptability of local peanuts and forage intercropping in date palm forests, evaluation of insects trap effect in Sindh province, Pakistan and the project budget’s spending.

Through effective communication, the direction for the construction of tropical economic palm production technology integration demonstration base in Pakistan was distinct. The international cooperation project was executed smoothly by video link between Coconut Research Institute and University of Agriculture at Faisalabad, Pakistan under world pandemic background.
