Coconut Research Institute Participated in a Webinar on Oil Crops in Pakistan and China

On September 2, 2020, the Economic and Trade Office of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan sent a letter to the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, saying: Professor IKA Ahmed Khan, Former President of Salabad Agricultural University of Pakistan, plans to cooperate with the Academy of Sciences of Pakistan to hold a series of webinars in the field of agriculture, hoping to invite experts to participate in two webinars to introduce Chinese successful experience in vegetable and oil crop seed industry. After the coordination and preparation of all parties, this issue of oil crop symposium was held on November 6, and two experts from each country made alternate academic reports.

Dr. Wang Yong, from Coconut Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, attended the meeting and shared the industry general situation of tropical woody oil crops such as coconut and oil palm, as well as the research progress of molecular marker assisted breeding and  seedling propagation by tissue culture. After the academic reports, representatives of relevant enterprises from Pakistan also made speeches and exchanges in turn. Mr. Gu Wenliang, from the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, made a concluding speech, saying that he would coordinate all parties to strengthen cooperation.



 

 This webinar strengthens the academic exchange and is conducive to promoting the cooperation between China and Pakistan in oil crop seed industry innovation.
