Invited by Haikou Experimental Station of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Lv Chaojun, a scientist of Coconut Research Institute, conducted training for Ecuador about the identification and control technology of major oil palm pests on November 26, 2020,supporting Ecuador to improve the scientific control level of diseases and insect pests in oil palm plantation.

Dr. Lv Chaojun introduced the key techniques for the identification of the main pests of oil palm, such as Oryctes rhinoceros, red palm weevil and Aleurocanthus spittiferus, from the aspects of root, steam and leaf of oil palm, and the comprehensive management of oil palm pests was also introduced from biological control, physical control, chemical emergency control and agricultural control. The training was highly praised by Ecuador.

 This training has enhanced the friendship between China and Ecuador, and promoted the influence of China's science and technology. Meanwhile, the training course also laid a foundation for the popularization of integrated control technology of oil palm pests in Ecuador.
