Professor Feng Jifu Went to Coconut Research Institute to Guide the Scientific Research Work of Oil-tea Camellia

Under the invitation of Wang Fuyou, Director General of Coconut Research Institute, CATAS, Feng Jifu, an economic forest expert from the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, went to Coconut Research Institute to guide the scientific research of  oil-tea Camellia on December 9.

Visiting oil-tea Camellia germplasm resources nursery

      Researcher Feng Jifu visited oil-tea Camellia germplasm resource nursery and new variety demonstration base, and had a cordial exchange with scientific and technical personnel of Oil-tea Camellia team of Coconut Research Institute. In view of the specific problems of new variety cultivation, high grafting and crown replacement and seedling cultivation, researcher Feng Jifu gave detailed guidance in the aspects of breeding direction, accelerating the breeding process, grafting and pruning finalization, bud seedling and rootstock cultivation, etc., and taught grafting and pruning techniques hand in hand. Scientific and technological personnel have said that the guidance of experts is highly operational and has benefited a lot.

Researcher Feng Jifu affirmed the achievements of Coconut Research Institute in Oil-tea Camellia research work, and encouraged the scientific and technological personnel of Oil-tea Camellia team to focus on the scientific research work of Oil-tea Camellia in hot areas. He said that Oil-tea Camellia has unique advantages and has a bright future. We should adhere to the whole industry chain research and constantly improve the ability to serve the national edible oil supply security strategy.

After the meeting, the two sides jointly went to Shangyong Forest Farm in Qionghai City to inspect the Oil-tea Camellia base of tropical experimental station of national oil-tea Camellia Science Center.
