On December 29-30, 2020, the 5th Tropical Oil-tea Camellia Industry Development Seminar and the 2020 Annual Meeting of Hainan Shan-you (Oil-tea Camellia) Industry Technology Alliance opened in Haikou. Prof. WANG Fu-you , director of Coconut Research Institute, and all members of Oil-tea Camellia research center attended the meeting.

Prof. ZHOU Ya-dong , chief engineer of Hainan forestry bureau, introduced the relevant policies of China and Hainan Province to promote the high-quality development of woody grain , oil and under forest economy, and proposed that "we should strengthen the policy guidance, comprehensively promote the high-quality development of Oil-tea Camellia industry, steadily improve the output and quality, and optimize the supply structure and industrial chain of Oil-tea Camellia."

During the meeting, Dr. JIA Xiao-cheng made an academic report entitled "One of the keys to the development of Hainan Oil-tea Camellia Industry: the construction of new variety test demonstration base", and had in-depth exchanges with technical personnel and cooperative farmers, and discussed the practical production problems of Oil-tea Camellia, such as high grafting and crown changing, flower and fruit protection, pest control, and variety allocation.

Under the background of the construction of Hainan free trade port, the conference discussed how to promote the integration of technology and economy of Oil-tea Camellia in Hainan. Leaders from Hainan Provincial Forestry Department and relevant cities and counties, scientific research personnel of Oil-tea Camellia from Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Hainan University, Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hainan Academy of Forestry Sciences, and representatives of Hainan Oil-tea Camellia enterprises participated in the meeting to make plans for the healthy development of Hainan Oil-tea Camellia Industry.
