On August 21st,Coconut Research Institute and Julong Group Ltd held a joint research project cooperation exchange meeting. Mr. Lei Wenzhong, CEO of Indonesian oil palm plantation of Julong Group Ltd, Mr. Qiu Aimiao, director of Public and Government Affairs Department of Julong Group Ltd, Mr. Wang Hui, deputy director of Coconut Research Institute, Ms. Cao Hongxing, director of Oil Palm Research Center, and technical personnel related to oil palm and pest research attended the meeting.
At the meeting, technical discussions and exchanges were conducted on issues that need to be resolved urgently in Indonesian oil palm plantations, such as difficulties in oil palm fruit harvesting, preparation and system optimization of tissue culture laboratories, and pest control. At present, it has jointly developed a mechanized fruit picker suitable for young trees under three meters with the Nanjing Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute, and the fruit picker has been tested well in Coconut Research Institute. Dr. Lu Chaojun addressed the problems of Rhinoceros rhinoceros, red palm weevil and other diseases and insect pests in Indonesian plantations. He answered the problems and proposed solutions from three perspectives of physical, biological and chemical control, and pointed out the effects of pheromone attractants was very good particularly. Julong Group Ltd intends to set up a special oil palm technology development company in Hainan Province to transform the relatively mature young fruit harvesting machinery and the special trap pheromone of oil palm Rhinoceros rhinoceros to promote the "Going Global" of industrial technology. Deputy director Wang Hui proposed that in accordance with the urgency of the problem, priority should be given to the prevention and control of pests and diseases of Indonesian oil palm plantations, fruit harvesting equipment, and the preparation of overseas tissue culture R&D centers.
The meeting has achieved remarkable results and plays an important role in promoting the next step of multi-party cooperation.
