Oil palm is the oil crop with the highest oil yield per unit area in the world. Coconut Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences is one of the earliest scientific research institutions in China to study oil palm. Over the years, in response to the technical requirements for variety selection, seedling breeding, high-efficiency cultivation, and mechanical fruit picking faced by Chinese companies in the "going global" development of the oil palm industry, they have carried out relevant industrial technology integration research, and technology has supported Chinese companies in Indonesia and Congo ( Gold) to develop the oil palm plantation industry, and enable more countries along the “Belt and Road” to benefit from Chinese agricultural technological innovation through demonstration.

In Indonesia, the technical requirements of Julong Group’s overseas oil palm plantations in terms of efficient cultivation, breeding of improved varieties, and mechanical fruit harvesting were clarified. Through technical training, the fertilizer utilization rate of Julong Group's demonstration base has increased by 5%, the incidence of pests and diseases has been reduced by 5%, and the output has increased by 10%.

In Africa, Coconut Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences supported Liaoning Sanhe Mining industry to plant more than 30,000 acres of oil palm in Congo (Gold).600,000 seedlings are bred through the technology of seedling breeding and expansion, the seedling rate is more than 90%, the incidence rate of plant diseases and insect pests is less than 5%, the cost of seedlings is reduced by more than 10%, and the survival rate of field seedlings is more than 95%.

Dr. Cao Hongxing told the reporters that a total of 43 Asian, African and Latin American countries plant oil palm, mainly along the “Belt and Road” route in Asia, Africa and Latin America, and international cooperation has broad prospects. Only the scientific research institutions continuously increasing scientific and technological innovation can continue to support the "going global" of my country's oil palm industry, gradually increase my country's influence and voice in the international oil palm field, and ensure national oil safety.
