At the invitation of H. Elfizar Edrus, the head of Plantation and Animal Husbandry Department, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, With the support of Hainan Province's international scientific and technological cooperation R&D project "Demonstration and Promotion of Key Technologies for Oil Palm Production in Indonesia", Dr. Fu Dengqiang, Dr. Lv Chaojun, and Liu Xiaoyu conducted key production technology research and training on Tianjin Julong Group's Indonesian oil palm plantation from June 12 to June 18, 2024.

        The expert group of Coconut Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences(CRICATAS) conducted a survey and on-site guidance on the current status of water and fertilizer management and pest and disease control in oil palm plantations. Dr. Fu Dengqiang provided on-site guidance on the significance, basic principles and technical points of oil palm fertilization; technical requirements such as soil sampling and leaf sampling for nutrition diagnosis. Dr. Lv Chaojun provided on-site guidance on key technologies for physical and chemical control and biological control of oil palm pests such as the rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros); identification and control of major oil palm pests, and breeding and utilization of oil palm pollination weevils.

        Through this training and exchange, an effective guidance program was provided for the bottleneck problem encountered in the production of local oil palm plantations, which is of certain significance for the scientific and technological support for Chinese enterprises to go global and develop the oil palm planting industry.
