CRI, CATAS have cultivated 3 new varieties of coconut, “Wenye No.2”, “Wenye No.3”, and “Wenye No.4”.

　　“Wenye No.2” wan examined and approved by national tropical crop variety approval committee in 2013. This variety is dwarf type, with yellow leaf, petiole and fruit. The fruit is small and round in shape; the husk and shell are thin; the meat s soft, water is sweet because of 6%-8%total sugar in the 7th-8th mouths fruit; “Wenye No.2” is early fruiting, flowering begins at 3-4 years after planting, and it needs 6 years to achieve high yield stage.

　　“Wenye No.3” was examined and approved by cultivar registration committee of Hainan province in 2007. Trees of the variety are short, and the color of their leaf and fruit is orange red. The fruit is small and round; the husk and shell are thin; the meat is soft , the total sugar in the in the 7th-8th mouths fruit’s water is 8%, “Wenye No.3” starts to flower 3-4years after planting, and it needs 8 years to achieve high yield stage.

　　“Wenye No.4” was examined and approved by national tropical crop variety approval committee in 2014. The variety has desirable traits of early fruiting , high production and good quality. The fruit is small, the water is sweet, and there is a kind of special aroma like taro in the water and meat.
