Fan haikuo, an agricultural breeding expert , received his BSc degree from the Henan Institute of Science and Technology, China(2000); MSc in Fruit Breeding(2005) and his PhD in Fruit Breeding (2014) from the Sichuan Agricultural University, China.


Education Background:

Dr. Fan joined CRI -CATAS  and have been involved in germplasm resource, breeding and biotechnology research of coconut, arecanut,oil palm and other tropic crops for more than 8 years since 2006. Dr. Fan has a solid background in Plant science (with emphasis on germplasm resource, Breeding, Molecular marker assisted selection breeding MAS, Trans-Gene), a keen interest in collection, evaluation and conservation of coconut genetic resources, RNA-Seq and genomics. As Coconut Research Center Director, I am responsible for ensuring the quality and scientific relevance of the research programs and for making sure that the Research Area under my leadership is regularly reviewed and assessed. Also, I and my colleagues have finished 50 projects, collected 161 accessions Coconuts germplasms, breeding 4 coconut varieties, published more than 20 papers.
